Anonymous asked: I don't think it's really fair to be that absolute in your opinion of religion. I'm not a theologist but I do know that religion doesn't always promote hate- specifically protestism. Looking at the New Test, Jesus dedicated his life to showing love to people that were denoted as "outcasts." Even when he came across people that had committed a crime, he showed them compassion and the truth by confronting them (see John 8 NIV). In my opinion, it's misinterpretation/ ignorancy that causes the hate.

from everything i’ve read and heard ….. jesus sounds great. he sounds like the kind of guy who would stand up for those who are oppressed. if he was alive today, id imagine he’d be at the forefront of the gay rights movement. so why are so many of his followers so adamant on doing the exact opposite? i see very few similarities in the views of modern christianity and those of jesus.

also, no matter how many sound bites people come up with, the concept of ‘im going to heaven and everyone else who doesn’t believe the same thing as me is going to hell’ is just about as backwards and hate producing as it gets. it’s an incredibly hostile belief.
