last night in columbus we played our self titled record from front to back. first time ever. honestly, i was legit nervous before hand. like considering a xanax. spent the 30 minute period before the show awkwardly dancing to a kid dynamite / robyn / kanye mix I had made with the intention of relieving/dancing out the stress before the show. it worked…. anyway, the show was one of the most magical experiences I’ve had on stage. at any normal show we spend so much time going back and forth on the set list. every moment is dissected and it can be extremely over the top the way in which we care about it. sequencing the record(s) was(is) an even more insane process. back and forth, listening to the songs in every possible formation. doing everything possible to make sure our audience hears the record how it is meant to be heard. its terrifying to imagine people hearing it out of order. like eating birthday cake before soup. hmm. through the process of sequencing it’s so clear how massively different every experience. so, to get on stage last night with the task of delivering the record in the same way we had wanted people to feel it from the actual thing itself … was …. not easy … and therefore …. when it worked perfectly …. was magic. we played bloody lips and the fall asleep intro and outro for the first time ever. favorite moment of the night was playing behavior. can’t say why. felt like glastonbury? most importantly I want to say thanks to our amazing fans for making last night so insane/special. thanks for getting on board with a show like that…. and more importunity thank you for letting us tell the story of daniels first (almost) kiss at his bar mitzvah in 1947…. … a story that lasted about 10 minutes, by the by. ———- so. and therefore. lastly. etc. when I walked off stage all I could think was we have to do this in more places….. but I may be getting ahead of myself and making promises that’ll be broken. for now we will be taking this ‘full record + QA + request + stories from when we were more unfortunate’ to BOSTON on may 3rd and DC on may 4th. see you guys at those shows. no longer nervous - only excited.

I would like to add to this by saying that I was the person who got to act out Daniel’s first (almost) kiss with him...
